Out to Lunch
As a marketer at Air, I was always looking for ways to leverage our CEO’s natural charisma. I’d seen a few variations on the theme of “CEO/founder hosts a podcast,” and I knew we could do better. They were all filmed in sterile office environments with equally sterile subject matter. I’m a longtime fan of the video work the VICE Munchies crew did (RIP) — so I pitched a series that would crib their “Chef’s Night Out” concept.
For Season 1, we hired a couple shooters, sourced interview subjects from Shane’s network, and stole locations all over New York. It was a hit, and omeone working in the startup space at JP Morgan liked it enough that they sponsored a second season. We leveraged a connection at Union Square Hospitality to secure the group’s restaurant portfolio for our locations.
The 21 guests have included Andrew Robertson, CEO of BBDO Worldwide, Jenny Fleiss, founder of Rent the Runway, and Vinay Menda, Co-founder of Blank Street Coffee.
Besides producing the show, I also handled copywriting across all releases, from Air webpages to Shane’s LinkedIn posts.
The series saw over 500k views total across all episodes and platforms.
